Aaliyah Daniel Haughton shot to fame in 1994 after the release of her first album Age Ain't Anything But a Numer. The singer was only 15 at when the album was released and it became Gold. It was made as a collaboration that was highly in the style of R. Kelly and it brought her into the limelight. In 1996 she collaborated with Jermaine Dpri as well as Timbaland for her second studio album One In A Million, which featured the #1 hit track If Your Girl Only Knew. Following the release of this work Aaliyah gained international attention for her performance as an R&B singer. She appeared alongside the martial arts legend Jet Li in the 2000 romantic-action movie Romeo Must Die. She got this role following an interview with director Joel Silver at an awards show. In 2002, she was involved in the Anne Rice-produced movie about horror Queen of the Damned. She also starred in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. However, she is also known as Aarti Magumdar for her stage name. While her initial career was filled with minor movie and TV performances, she rose to greater prominence in the mid-2000s. Other than The Big Bang Theory her other most acclaimed works include Leverage (2012) Suits (2013) as well as Grey's Anatomy (2017). The actress has also been featured in major commercials featuring brands like Volvo which is an international automobile maker. She has a daughter, who lives in Los Angeles and is pursuing acting.
